I don't want to forget these moments

It was time for Connor to go to bed. I changed his diaper, put him in soft fleece jammies & brushed his teeth. He LOVES to have his teeth brushed. We went back to his room so he could nurse a little bit. He likes to play with my face & pulled my lip into a funny face. I decided to make another funny face which made him smile. Normally I wouldn't encourage laughter when I'm trying to get him down for the night but he was just too cute. We went back and forth, me making a face & him smiling. Pretty soon we were both cracking up & Garrett called up wondering what was going on. It was just one of those moments that makes all the sleep deprivation & frustrations all worth it.

Merry Christmas

This post brought to you by my new MacBook Pro!! Thank you Garrett! Switching from a PC to a Mac will take some getting used to. Totally worth it though. This computer is awesome!

Garrett & I are getting ready for a busy week. We're moving next Saturday which we're super excited about. We'll be renting out our townhouse & renting a bigger house. Our townhouse was big enough when there were only 2 of us but not with 3 of us. Plus, our townhouse is just too far from work. The new house will be MUCH closer to work & is close to 2 1/2 times bigger! But, with moving comes, you guessed it, PACKING. Keeping a house in order w/ a very active little one is a struggle but packing an entire house up makes my head spin. Hopefully it won't be as difficult as I'm thinking it will be.

I'm really looking forward to a fresh start in a new house. I'm still working on my http://flylady.net/ routines. I'm going to make a conscious effort to keep these routines in place. My new Dyson vacuum should help. Thanks Bill & Cheryl!!!

I also got a pair of Tom's shoes from Julia, tons of gift cards from my parents & a "in progress" Christmas tree skirt from my mom. I'll post pictures as it comes along. I got one section wrapped up today & it looks awesome. I can't wait to use it next Christmas.

Coming out of hiding

Sorry I’ve been missing in action for so long. I’m trying hard to prioritize what’s important in my life. I’ve been spending more time with Connor & trying my hardest to keep the house clean. There are only a few hours per day for me to get everything done.

6:30 Out of bed
6:45 Connor wakes up
7:30 Leave for work/drop baby off
8:05 Drop Connor off
8:30 Get to work
Work, work, work
5:00 Ahhhh, leave work (if I’m lucky to leave on time)
5:30 Pick Connor up (take a few minutes to chat w/ Mom about his day)
5:50-6: Leave for home
6:30 Get home
6:30-9 Play w/ Connor, make dinner, clean up etc. etc. etc.
Connor goes to bed
9-10:00 Try to get some other projects done now that Connor has gone to bed & can’t get into everything.
10-10:30 Crash

I know this is the same for every full time working mother but it’s tough (FOR ALL OF US). And, I’m in no way saying being a stay at home mom is easy. IT’S NOT! I did it for 2 months. But, I hope to do it again soon. Garrett & I are trying to make the finances work. We want to be financially stable (his student loan paid off & an emergency fund built) before I take the plunge.

Anyway………………………What I really want to talk about is how Connor is going to be a year old in LESS THAN A MONTH!!!!! How did this happen??? He’s changed so much from the squishy little newborn I brought home from the hospital.
Update on what he’s doing:
He WALKS!! Like really walks. He walks across entire rooms & maneuvers around & over things without falling over. He started walking a little before he reached 10 ½ months but it was just a few steps then. He’s been full on walking for about 2 weeks now.
Still crawls some but definitely prefers to walk.
Says momma (Garrett argues whether he knows what he’s saying or not, but I think he does) & dada.
Opens drawers (thank goodness Garrett’s been putting baby proofing up)
Crawls up & DOWN stairs.
Climbs off of the couch properly.
Has 5 teeth & is working on a sixth.
Wears size 3 diapers
Wears 6-9 month clothes
He is still a little peanut. According to my bathroom scale he’s 19 pounds.
He has the sweetest smile & loves to laugh. He throws the occasional temper tantrum but is overall a happy boy.

Ten Things Tuesday

1. Life has been crazy, sorry for not blogging.

2. I made a yummy Curried Couscous Salad tonight.

3. I got a new iPhone today! This one is so much faster.

4. I'm trying to get my house under control w/ Fly Lady. I'm having trouble, I want to tackle it all but know I can't. There's a fine line between doing enough and not too much (therefor getting burned out)

5. Missy Cat has been more cuddly than normal since we came back from our trip to the San Juans. Guess she missed us.

6. Garrett gave me permission to pick the paint colors for our house w/ the understanding that he doesn't have to help.

7. Connor doesn't like his jumperoo anymore. He used to ADORE it. Now that he can get around really well, he hates being kept in one spot.

8. Julia and I are now working together. It seems to be going well.

9. I can't believe it's a matter of weeks before Connor is a year old.

These last few weeks have been crazy

First, I went to Las Vegas with some friends from work (so.much.fun). I got back on a Wednesday, was back for 3 days and then left on Saturday morning for a family reunion in Idaho. On our way back over the pass on I-90 we started hearing a thunking under our feet. It started getting really bad so we decided to pull over. Before we got to the side we heard one more loud Ka-Chunk under our feet & then a pop. Our car filled with smoke & Garrett slammed on the breaks. We got out of the car quickly & realized 3 of the air bags had gone off. We each had a few bruises and a few cuts but were ok other than that. My car however was not ok. With all the damage to the airbags and seatbelts the total bill came to over $10,000.00. Our insurance company deemed it a total loss since our car was worth only $7500. So, now we're on the hunt for a new car. Then a few nights ago there was a murder just 150-ish feet away from our house.

I haven't had any time to work on photos the last few weeks. I miss it. So, for you, I give you my new favorite.

Jager is crazy 2.0

If you've been a follower of my blog for long you'll know that our dog Jager drives me crazy. It's not that he's a bad dog, he's usually a pretty good dog. He's just clueless. However, every once in awhile I get a good laugh out of him.

Garrett trained him to keep treats on his nose and wait for his cue.

"Pleeeeeeaaaase, can I eat the waffle nowwwwww???"

TTT

1. Garrett & I took Connor up to his family's cabin in the San Juan islands this weekend. A few hiccups in the transportation but we had fun.

2. Loving my new camera :)

3. I took Connor on the swing 2 times & Garrett took him on once. We thought he would love it but he just sat there. Maybe he was just taking it all in.

4. Jager is a much "mellow-er" dog when he is at the cabin. He gets to run around tons and wears himself out.

5. We are going up again in July w/ Nick & Carrie and their little son John (who is 3 months older than Connor). I'm so excited because we'll be there for a whole week & I'll have another mom to keep me company.

6. Connor has a tiny corner of his first tooth coming through. Sorry Garrett, I forgot to tell you earlier.

7. I wish this cough would go away. It's not as bad as it was but it just keeps hanging on.

8. I haven't seen my sister since Friday. I miss her :( Come have lunch with me tomorrow.

9. Connor used to love his jumperoo but now that he is mobile he seems to want nothing to do with it. I miss the days of being able to put him somewhere for a minute and know he was going to be there when I came back. That being said, I wouldn't want to go back. He's such a happier boy now.

10. Pictures from this weekend :)

Here's a bonus picture of Connor's new favorite hobby.

Bye Bye Daddy

I got my new camera yesterday (Nikon D700!!!!) I am completely in love yet completely overwhelmed by all the features.

TTT

1. I had one of my nightmares come true on Sunday. I fell down the stairs (about halfway down a 16 step flight) while holding Connor. Thankfully my mommy instincts kicked in and I kept Connor from getting hurt at all. I'm a little worse for wear but not terrible. Just a sprained ankle (which I can thankfully still walk on) and a busted up knee. Garrett said I got a D- for taking care of myself but an A for keeping Connor safe.

2. I'm ordering a new camera today. I can't wait for it to get here.

3. My boss bought an office building. No more renting this antient office space. Our goal is to be moved by July 1st.

4. I think I need a Pepsi. update: I settled for a Coke cause McDonalds has them for just $1

5. Julia has been staying with us for a few days. It's been fun having her. Her drog (yes drog, not dog. We call her this because she lays on her tummy with her legs sprawled out behind her & looks like a frog. So, combine dog and frog & you get drog) is staying too so she and Jager keep each other entertained. We close the baby gate and let them run up and down the stairs & entryway w/ a tug rope & they thoroughly wear themselves out.

6. Garrett, Connor and I are headed up to the family cabin w/ Garrett's cousin Jessica and her husband Steven this weekend. Connor is got his first life jacket yesterday in preperation for the trip. How stinkin' cute is he????
Sorry for crummy quality. I-phone camera in use here since I'm currently camera-less.
7. Last week I said I wasn't sure which smile of Connor's was my favorite. I think the one in the picture above is my favorite. It may not be crazy happy/joyful but it is SO SO SO sweet.
8. Ugh, I have a voicemail.
9. I did a MOUNTAIN of laundry yesterday & I'm still not done. I'll do some more attacking tonight.
10. I'm so excited for a 3 day weekend.

10 Things about Connor Tuesday

In honor of Connor turning 8 months old (holy cow!!!) tomorrow I figured I'd do 10 things about him.

1. He climbed the entire flight of stairs yesterday (16 steps).

2. He's starting to crawl on his hands and knees now instead of just army crawls.

3. He has many different smiles & I don't know which one is my favorite.

4. He is still wearing 3-6 month onesies & 6 month pants. He's a little peanut.

5. He started pulling himself up to standing a few weeks ago so he graduated from sleeping in his pack n' play to sleeping in his big boy crib.

6. He goes from crawling to sitting all by himself now. He now sits up in the middle of the night and cries, half asleep. Connor, if you just laid back down, you would fall back asleep.

7. He's making "ma ma maaaam" sounds now. Looks like Mamma will be his first word.

8. Connor is still waiting for his first tooth. Mamma isn't complaining cause she can't get bitten as of now.

9. Even though Connor has been quite a fussy baby I can almost guarantee he'll be content in the car which I'm soooooooooooooo thankful for.

10. The separation anxiety has started. If I leave the room probably 7 times out of 10 he looses it.

Love you Connor. I can't believe you're already 2/3 of the way through your first year.

On a completely unrelated topic, I just watched the season finale of Gossip Girl. This season has been awesome!

I've been a bad blogger

Maybe you'll forgive me if I show you a cute picture of Connor.

Here are a few more of Brooke. It's hard to take a bad picture of her. So pretty.

TTT

1. I'm late again but at least it's still Tuesday.

2. Baby Connor is sick again. Why do parents bring their sick children to play with other children?

3. Connor finally got too old for his pack n' play. He started trying to pull up on the sides & once he figures it out he would tumble right out. In the crib he goes.

4. I did 2 photo shoots on Sunday & had so much fun.

5. I started shooting in RAW format. It's lots to learn but there's SOOOOOO much more flexibility.

6. Garrett got a new shift. While it's not perfect, it's better. Tuesday-Friday graveyard.

7. I had the best curry on Sunday. YUM!

8. Julia is going to make baby hats for Connor when she's done with her sweater. She is turning into a knitting machine.

9. I think I'm the only person left who hasn't seen Avatar. Garrett really wants me to watch it.

10. Julia wants to steal my pillow & mattress.

Ten Things Wednesday???

1. It doesn't have the same ring as TTT but.....I forgot about it yesterday. Sorry!!!

2. I made tacos last night using ground turkey breast. It's the only way we make them anymore. They're so nummy.

3. I'm taking pictures of a friend's sweet baby boy this weekend. I'm so excited.

4. I keep eating lunch too late in the day.

5. We're going to our friends' house for the evening. They have a baby boy just 3 months older than Connor.

6. Julia is knitting me mittens. She already knitted hers and they look awesome.

7. Work is crazy right now.

8. I need to pump.

9. Our computer system hasn't been working properly for the last 2 days. Makes it difficult to sell.

10. Connor can now crawl far enough that he gets into things. Time to do a major house clean/organize & get everything out of reach. How did this happen so quickly?? Just yesterday he was my tiny baby who couldn't even roll over.

Skagit Valley Tulips

On Sunday.....

Me

And Meggie,

And Julia

And my Mommy

And baby Connor

Went to Skagit County and saw these...

The trip started out after church. Mom, Julia and Megan met me at my house. We loaded up the car & drove the 35 miles to Skagit county. We saw a sign that said to get off at exit 230 so we said, "okay." Everyone else was getting off at some other exit but we decided not to follow the crowds (not that we really knew what we were doing, we were just guessing). The first thing we see after we get off the exit is a Krispy Kreme. We stop (duh), get some doughnuts, and some compliments on how cute Connor is & head off to the Fred Meyer which is supposed to have info on the tulips. By this point it's getting pretty warm so we undress Connor into just his onesie (SO CUTE, who doesn't love little bare baby legs & feet???) We decide he needs a hat so his little head doesn't burn & I need some shorts (hello sweat). I hadn't worn shorts earlier because I desperately needed to shave my legs. At this point I decided I didn't care, I wasn't staying in those jeans for the rest of the day. After finding shorts & a hat we joked that maybe we should just go shopping (lower sales tax lol). We finally got back on track. Well we missed the traffic but drove around forever looking for the tulips. We finally found them though. I got tons of pictures but only had the energy to get these ready for viewing. More to come.

New puppy (NOT MINE!! that would be crazy)

Garrett's parents got a new puppy in (I want to say) February. Tia is a Tibetan Terrier & crazy as can be.

And I can't go to bed without some Connor love.

Ten Things Tuesday

1. I finally had a physical today. Unfortunately I have to have a sleep study done. The doctor thinks I might have sleep apnea.

2. Connor is doing so good at crawling. He can scoot & pull himself forward several feet now. He hasn't figured out the whole hands and knees thing but he's getting there.

3. The room in our garage is coming along. Electrical is done except for one tiny thing. Now, we need to get it sheet rocked and painted. It'll be so nice to move all the office stuff down there.

4. I love the way Connor smells. I know I won't be saying this when he's 10 so I smell him as often as humanly possible.

5. Connor is trying to type his own TTT right now

6. I'm falling behind on my book list.

7. I've typed most of this with 1 hand because Connor wants to be held.

8. I play too much Chuzzle on my iPhone. I'm addicted.

9. Connor is getting SO much new hair.

10. I love the new song my Laura Bell Bundy "Giddy On Up." Go take a listen, it's very catchy. I'm also loving the new song by Jewell "Stay Here Forever."

Sunshine

Connor played in the grass for the first time; & mom shot in full sun for the first time. Obviously there's still some practice that needs to happen.

One picture for tonight

The picture isn't of my baby. Well..... it's not of my human baby. It's my kitty baby. I was itching to take some photos but my normal subject that I harass with my camera had gone to bed. I found a curled up kitty and said, "you'll do just fine." Meet Missy, also known as Moo Cat (or Moo Cow if you're my father).

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Ten Things Tuesday

1. Garrett is sick.

2. Connor Wonnor is sick.

3. Julia is sick.

4. Mom is sick.

5. I wonder who's next....please don't be me.

6. Garrett and I used to sing "Connor Wonnor was a bull frog." to the music of "Jeremiah was a bull frog." We stopped doing it for whatever reason and then I remembered it the other day. It makes me laugh.

7.

Meet my new friend. The Nikon SB-600. It makes photos like the one posted yesterday possible.

8. Connor slept from 11-7 last night without waking. I even went in and woke him up this morning (oh how I hate to wake a sleeping baby) to take him to my mom. I wonder how late he would've slept if I could've left him sleeping.

9. Time to freeze the pumped milk.

10. I never though I would paint my nails almost black. The color is called "dark room" and it's like a greenish black. I like it though. Unexpected.

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Ten Things Tuesday

1. I've been a bad blogger this week. Only one post since last week's TTT.

2. I can't wait to get home and see my people.

3. Blogger has new customzied templates. I'll have to check them out.

4. I need to go grocery shopping bad.

5. The potato soup I had for lunch was good but it's sitting funny in my tummy.

6. Connor is working so hard at crawling. It's so cute.

7. I want to go back to school but I don't have the time. Maybe when Garrett has a normal shift again I can take some night classes.

8. We took Garrett's computer out of Connor's room/office last night. When I went in there this morning it was FREEZING. Poor baby's hands were cold. That stinkin' computer was putting off enough heat to heat the room. Without it, it's cold. We'll have to do something about that tonight.

9. Connor is now in size 3 diapers. I remember the size 1 diapers being huge on him not so long ago.

10. Time to pump.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

TTT

1. Garrett, my dad & Garrett's dad framed a room off in our garage so we can build an office. We only have a 2 bedroom townhouse so the 2nd bedroom has kind of been schizophrenic (Connor's room, office, junk room. It's worn a lot of hats). It's driving me crazy. I'll be glad to have Connor's room be just his bedroom.

2. Photography is addictive.

3. So is caffeine.

4. Maybe pork loin is for dinner. Except I don't have anything to fix with it. Hmmmm.

5. Or, maybe Carrie and I are going out tonight. We need a girl's night.

6. I watched New Moon with Garrett last night. Awesome!

7. I love that the weather is getting nicer. I can't wait to take pictures of Connor outside.

8. Mom and I might go to Montana in June. That would be fun.

9. My mom and dad went for a walk with Connor last week. Dad had Connor in the backpack. It was cute.

10. Our regular 8:00 meeting is going to be an 8:30 meeting tomorrow. Yay, I get to sleep in.
