Ten Things Tuesday

1. I've been a bad blogger this week. Only one post since last week's TTT.

2. I can't wait to get home and see my people.

3. Blogger has new customzied templates. I'll have to check them out.

4. I need to go grocery shopping bad.

5. The potato soup I had for lunch was good but it's sitting funny in my tummy.

6. Connor is working so hard at crawling. It's so cute.

7. I want to go back to school but I don't have the time. Maybe when Garrett has a normal shift again I can take some night classes.

8. We took Garrett's computer out of Connor's room/office last night. When I went in there this morning it was FREEZING. Poor baby's hands were cold. That stinkin' computer was putting off enough heat to heat the room. Without it, it's cold. We'll have to do something about that tonight.

9. Connor is now in size 3 diapers. I remember the size 1 diapers being huge on him not so long ago.

10. Time to pump.

TTT

1. Garrett, my dad & Garrett's dad framed a room off in our garage so we can build an office. We only have a 2 bedroom townhouse so the 2nd bedroom has kind of been schizophrenic (Connor's room, office, junk room. It's worn a lot of hats). It's driving me crazy. I'll be glad to have Connor's room be just his bedroom.

2. Photography is addictive.

3. So is caffeine.

4. Maybe pork loin is for dinner. Except I don't have anything to fix with it. Hmmmm.

5. Or, maybe Carrie and I are going out tonight. We need a girl's night.

6. I watched New Moon with Garrett last night. Awesome!

7. I love that the weather is getting nicer. I can't wait to take pictures of Connor outside.

8. Mom and I might go to Montana in June. That would be fun.

9. My mom and dad went for a walk with Connor last week. Dad had Connor in the backpack. It was cute.

10. Our regular 8:00 meeting is going to be an 8:30 meeting tomorrow. Yay, I get to sleep in.

Connor-six months old!!

How did he become six months old??? It seems like it was just yesterday that we came home, yet it seems like I've know him forever. How was it that I lived happily without him? My life would not be complete without him.

He's grown and changed so much in the last six months, it's incredible. I looked back at some newborn pictures & he's a completely different baby but to me it seems like he looks exactly the same as he did when he was born. He's changed right before my eyes & I didn't even realize it.

He had his 6 month well baby checkup today. Here are the stats:

Height 27 3/4 inches (90th %tile). Tall baby.

Weight: 15lb 11oz (20th %tile). Skinny baby.

Head: 18cm (I think??) 92nd %tile. He's got a big noggin just like his parents.

His pediatrician wasn't concerned about the drop in weight %tile. (He's always hovered around the 50th %tile) He said most breastfed babies have a dip around six months. Add in the fact that he's crazy active (seriously, he is kicking, pivoting, wiggling ALL.DAY.LONG), he burns more calories in a day than the average baby. He's just a slim baby. I'm okay with that, it makes him easier to carry. Imagine if I had to carry around a 20 pound baby.

He got 3 more shots. He didn't cry for the first 2 but did for the last. The medical assistant said the last 1 stings more than the other 2. Good thing she knows to give that one last. She's awesome (last time Connor didn't cry at all), I requested that she be the one to give him his shots again.

Pictures from his appointment to come soon.

Baby Connor

Toes are the yummiest

So Serious

"growl"

Bath time! We tried the sink this time. It seemed easier than bending over to the bath tub.

Ten Things Tuesday

1. Wow this is late.

2. I had a 4 hour meeting this morning. SO MUCH INFO! My brain hurts.

3. Garrett has tonight off, another night together with Con-boy!

4. Oh boy, that meeting threw off my whole day.

5. I have to recreate that meeting tomorrow for people that missed today's. Hope I can teach it as well as our underwriter did.

6. What's for dinner?

7. I did my nails last night. It feels nice to take a minute and "prettify" myself. It's Sephora brand which happens to go on really nicely.

8. It's "Peeps" season. I know as an adult I'm supposed to despise the fluffy creatures but I don't. They are best though if they sit out for a few days and "stiffen." I know, gross, right?

9. I want someone to have a brand new squishy baby so I can take some pictures. Anyone? Ooooh, I just thought of someone who's pregnant. Yay, I'll email her tonight.

10. Our tax return should be in our account on Thursday. Then it's goodbye debt & hello camera stuff. Not too much, just a few things.

More of Baby C

Time for bed. I wish there were more hours in the day to practice photography. See you tomorrow for Ten Things Tuesday.

Yum

More Photos of, who else, Connor

Connor loves to look in mirrors. I don't think he knows it's himself yet but he still enjoys it.

This one is just cute!

I think we've found his color.

Voting is now open

Vote For Connor

His mother thanks you. He is on page 10, the top right baby on that page.

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Ten Things Tuesday

1. Poor Connor is sniffly again. It's either from teething or he has ANOTHER cold.

2. Garrett, did you submit the taxes last night? I want my money back from the government.

3. The more you learn about photography, the more gadgets you want (and those gadgets don't always come cheap).

4.

5. I need to make it to Sephora before my makeup runs out.

6. I have a new tab at the top of my page linking to an updated 51 in 1001 list.

7. I am trying to figure out how to spruce up my blog without paying someone to design in for me. I'm totally smart enough to figure it out myself, it's just finding the time.

8. I can't believe Connor is almost 6 months old. Crazy.

9. I got a new neclace from MamaBethBling on etsy. I love it. Cute & personal.

10. Mmmmmm, we had tacos last night. They were GOOD. I wish I was having them for lunch today.

My life as a "single mother"

I'll try to not make this seem whiney. We'll see if I'm successful.I guess I'll start with an overview of our new schedule.

Monday: Garrett comes home from work at 6:30ish. I'm awake by then & I get ready for work. Garrett will usually get Connor ready. I take the baby to my parent's house & my mom watches him for the day. I work until 5 and then pick baby up and head home. Garrett wakes up between 5 & 6. We spend the evening together. I'm in bed by 11. Garrett gets C when he needs to eat & will bring him to me & then put him back in bed when he's done.

Tuesday: Garrett has gone to bed around 4 AM (i.e. Satan's hour IMO) so I get myself & baby ready by myself & take him to my parent's house. I go to work. Garrett wakes up at 12:30 & goes to pick baby up from my mom. I work until 5 & then head home. Spend evening together. Go to bed, Garrett brings C to me when he needs to eat.

Wednesday: Repeat of Tuesday

Thursday: Wake up and get myself & Connor ready. Drop C off with my mom, go to work. Garrett picks C up around 1:00. I work until 5 & run home so I can make sure I'm there before Garrett has to run off to work. Connor & I play together for awhile & then get him ready for bed. I go to bed around 11. Connor usually wakes up at 1 & 4:30. I go to feed him & he usually falls right back to sleep.

Friday: C usually wakes up at 6:30 (right when Garrett is getting home). Garrett gets Connor ready while I get ready for work. I head off to my mom's w/ C. After work I usually hang out with my parents for the evening. Sometimes my mom and I go shopping w/ Julia & sometimes I just hang out at their house for the evening. C and I head home, play for awhile & then do our little bed time routine (bath (not every night), diaper change & play time, night time lotion w/ song, pajamas then a bottle or boob, rock to sleep).

Saturday: Garrett gets home around 6:30. He plays with Connor when he wakes up, I sleep in a little. Garrett usually tries to go to bed by 9:30/10. I usually play with Connor until he gets tired. Then he takes his morning nap & I get ready (while trying to be quiet so I don't wake up Garrett). I usually don't care to be by myself all day so I go to my parents for part of the day. We shop or just hang out at home. We go home, play for awhile & then go to bed.*note: I do feed him. There's just no rhyme or reason to when he eats. He eats sporadically throughout the day, when he's hungry.

Sunday: Garrett comes home. I usually wake up around 7:30. While adjusting to this schedule we've gone to church probably 2/4 of the weeks. I've gone to my parent's church once too. Then we come home, Garrett goes to bed & I spend time with Connor. Sometimes I go shopping to get out of the house so Garrett can sleep. He wakes up at 6:15 & heads off to work.

OK, now that you've seen the schedule I'll explain what exactly is taking it's toll on me (here's where I'll probably get whiney.)We do spend the evening together Monday through Wednesday which is nice but that's the most we see each other all week. I'm pooped when I get home & am not in the mood to clean. On Saturday & Sunday I have the motivation to clean but am responsible for the baby who only likes to be happy by himself for maybe 15-20 minutes at a time, maybe. Plus, we have to be quiet so we don't wake the sleeping bear. We used to spend all day Saturday & Sunday together. Now we don't ever spend longer than 4ish hours together. Thursday evening through Sunday morning, we see each other for just a few minutes at a time. We used to put the baby down for bed together, now it's all on me. Our house is always a pit because neither of us can watch the baby & clean at the same time. Blah, I just don't like it.I just hope it changes soon.

I know, I know, look at the bright side. There are a few advantages. I do like the help getting him ready a few mornings per week & I do like spending a little extra time with him Monday-Wednesday evenings & he does make a little extra money for having such a Sh****y shift. I think the advantages end there.

Blah again.

This boy has never had a normal 9-5 shift. I've had the same shift since I was 18 years old. Why can't he have a job with a normal shift?

Ok, rant over.

A picture a day is tricky so I'm just going to do what I can. Several per week. Here is my super cute baby. Seriously, how could you resist him?!?

Ten Things Tuesday

1. I am wearing a skirt I wore before I got pregnant!

2. My husband didn't like my below reference to Edward. It's okay honey, I still chose you.

3. Ding! I guess I have an email.

4. It was an email from Victoria's Secret. Boooooo. They don't have my size. Come to think about it, pretty much no one does.

5. Ikea's ginger cookies are WAY too good.

6. I'm working on 2 big households at work. Hope I get 'em!
7. We took pictures at work for our business cards.

Here's mine. Of course it'll be cropped. I wacked my hair off last week. Most of the old highlites are gone!!
8. I'm currently working on a post about my life as a "single mother". Garrett's new shift is taking a toll on me.
9. We bought Connor a high chair this weekend. I can't believe he's big enough for a high chair. He's sitting unassisted too. Such a big boy!
10. It's 1:05 already. Time to think about lunch.

Post-it Note Tuesday (TTT to come)

Blog Parade

1. What's your favorite time of the day, and why?
Whenever Connor is smiling & laughing. He melts my heart.
2. If health wasn't an issue, what food could you live off of?
Starbucks & Pepsi. They're not foods but, hey, health isn't an issue. I could eat tires if it's what made me happy right?
3. If you could have one wish granted (besides wishing for more wishes), what would it be?
It's so hard to pick just one. I suppose if I just wished to win the mega millions lottery I could do most of the things I would wish for. (send Connor to an awesome college, be a stay at home mom, advance in my photography enough to start a business) I have a lot that I'd wish for.
4. What's one thing that you get teased about a lot?
One time my family & I were on a road trip and looking for Moose (or is it Meese?hah). We were looking so hard that I just saw a big animal & yelled "Moose". It was a cow :(
5. If you could choose one movie, book, or TV show to spend your life in, which would you pick? What type of character would you be?
I'd probably be Bella from Twilight. I love me some Edward.
6. If you could have one talent that you don't already have, what would it be?
Keeping an impeccably clean house.
7.If money were no object, where would you go on vacation?
Greece.
8. If you were an awesome singer, which genre would you sing?
Country or modern Jazz.
9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, what would it be?
The camera store. Oh boy I could have fun with $10K.
10. If you could live in any point in time, when would it be?
Probably this time. Women have so many more freedoms now.
11. If every outfit in your wardrobe had to be one color, what would it be?
Blue.
12. If you were one of the seven dwarves, which one would you be?(Doc, Grumpy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Happy, or Dopey)
Everyone knows the answer to this one....SLEEPY.
13. What's the last album you listened to?
Billy Joel's greatest hits.
14. What's something we'd be surprised to know about you?
I love to watch infomercials. I never buy anything but like to watch them. I don't know why. ::hangs head in shame::
