Quilt Schedule

I have the necessary materials to make my next quilt. I just haven’t made the proper time for it. I could give you lines about being a full time mom & a full time employee ::I JUST DON’T HAVE THE TIME!!!:: but truthfully I just made Academy Awards Fashion Police more important. I can’t help but laugh myself silly & feel a little embarrassed (although I’m sure the woman has NEVER felt embarrassed for something she’s said) for Joan Rivers. The cooky woman cracks.me.up.

Anyway…I think maybe if I put a schedule up here WITH DEADLINES that I’ll finish it. It’s a simple quilt so I want to have it done by the end of this coming weekend so I can show my mom when she gets home from Ireland.

Tonight 3/1/11: Wash cotton. Finalize pattern. Iron tie dye squares & cut to size. Iron washed cotton. Set up sewing machine area (this has been neglected since our move).

Wednesday 3/2/11: Cut all cotton pieces & sew front together.

Thursday 3/3/11: Trim back piece & “the guts” down to size. This will have to be a quick evening. We have bible study at a friend’s house & probably won’t get home until late.

Friday 3/4/11: Pin all pieces together. Decide where I’m “stitching in the ditch” (I haven’t figured out “pretty” quilting yet; in time) then start sewing. I imagine I won’t finish that night.

Saturday 3/5/11: Continue “stitching in the ditch”. Sew on buttons.

Sunday 3/6/11: Bind quilt. I haven’t decided if I’ll just buy blanket binding that I like or if there will be enough fabric left to make bias tape. I suppose I’ll find out Wednesday when I cut the cotton. I think I have enough extra. I had a 40% off coupon!

There, that seems doable. It feels good to have a timeline written down. Maybe that’s something to keep in mind for future projects. Expect pictures along the way. Sorry that I’ve been neglecting on the photos for so long. Guess it’s time for some more.

The timeline (I hear) is the workhorse of productive people. I made a goals list this weekend and I think it will help me. Yours was impressive. Can't wait to see the quilt.
